Fibonacci Rose, 2013

Aluminum sheets with gold leaf, white-gold leaf and laquer

Fibonacci Rose is made of thin metal plates covered with yellow and white gold leaf mounted on a black painted wall. The wall work consists of two stylized Fibonacci spirals that run into each other and together form a rose -like shape. The shapes are also in possession of symbolic items for the respectively male and female universal reality, the equilateral triangle, with its point up or down. The use of gold and silver enhances this symbolism and lead the thoughts towards myths about the moon as bearer of female energy, and the sun bearer of mans. Through the basic poetry of the Universe found in Fibonaccis number sequence where the two previous values amounts to the next; 0,1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21,34 [etc.] the works underlying conceptual idea becomes visible. Divide the number that follows with the previous one, you get 1.6: “The Golden Ratio” commonly used in painting, architecture, and occurs everywhere in the world, the universe and connects the human, science and magic. Once this is sealed in an alchemical visual representation, not only are the room dimensions filled with seductive material quality, but begins to vibrate in the confirmation of a hyper-realistic, fixed planetary force.
